B&D Concrete Cutting was founded in 1988 by its current president, Michael Tackett. Originally B&K, Mr. Tackett had a vision for his company which began to take shape as he utilized his construction management experience and knowledge to grow the company into what it is today. Under his leadership, the company grew to over 100 employees and has two locations in metro Atlanta.
As B&D became the largest single-owner concrete cutting company in the southeast, Mr. Tackett recognized the hard work and loyalty of his employee base. His love for the concrete cutting trade and for his employees has driven him to look for ways to reward them for the value they added to his vision.
In September of 2021, Mr. Tackett elected to convert his company to an ESOP (Employee Stock Ownership Plan). Employee ownership will reward the employees for their strong performance and dedication, and will also help B&D attract and retain new talent. The decision also provides a wealth-building component to employee retirement benefits and helps to promote a positive organizational culture. “I’ve been blessed in life and in this business and want to share some of those blessings with the people who have worked so hard through the years in helping me build this company”, he says.
Mr. Tackett will continue to lead the business as he guides and prepares the next generation of managers ensuring no disruption for customers. Employee-owners have a financial stake in providing continued quality service and fostering our long-standing relationships in the construction industry. When a customer calls B&D to do a job, it will be completed by the owners themselves in a manner consistent with that which Michael Tackett envisioned when he first began.
B&D Concrete Cutting guarantees outstanding safety precaution and procedures with every contract. Attending weekly safety Tool-box Talks led by our in-house safety department, B&D staff and personnel are equipped with heavily enforced policies and procedures for creating and maintaining "safety first" on jobsites.
With safety being a core value for our employees and customers alike, B&D conducts frequent jobsite safety inspections for addressing job-specific safety concerns. Furthermore, we hold monthly safety meetings and conduct regular training for employees, committing to our promise of creating a safe and healthful workplace.
Concrete, being one of the most durable of all building materials, is also the most difficult to remove.
